Following the 2024 publication of TGD B Fire Safety – Volume 1, unless a building project qualifies under the transitional arrangement rules, from May 1st 2025 it becomes a requirement for all new developments to demonstrate their fire compliance in accordance with the relevant EN standards only.
Given the more onerous nature of EN fire resistance testing and stricter ‘Direct Field of Application’ rules compared to the traditionally adopted BS equivalents, both the specification and detailing required to demonstrate equivalent compliance with dry-lining systems can be affected, potentially adding both cost and complexity where it does.
In this short informative webinar, we will outline the overarching impacts that the use of EN fire resistance standards can have on Gyproc dry-lining partition, ceiling and encasement specifications and highlight where subsequent detailing may also need to be altered to suit.
