SAINT-GOBAIN IRELAND ANNOUNCES BARNARDOS AS NEW CHARITY PARTNER

15 March, 2017

Saint-Gobain in Ireland, leader in the sustainable habitat and construction materials markets, has announced its new ‘together’ charity partner in Ireland will be children’s charity, Barnardos. Five charities were shortlisted and interviewed, as part of a selection process, with the decision to appoint Barnardos reached by employee vote.

Barnardos supports children whose well-being is under threat, by working with them, their families and communities and by campaigning for the rights of children.

Mike Chaldecott, General Delegate and Regional Chief Executive for Construction Products, UK & Ireland at Saint-Gobain said: “Throughout this partnership, we want to go beyond fundraising and use our unique position in the construction industry to support the great work already undertaken by Barnardos across Ireland.

Brian Dolan, Managing Director of Gyproc in Ireland, a Saint-Gobain brand, said: “We’re looking forward to working together and supporting Barnardos in their essential work in Ireland. In particular we will be discussing with Barnardos how we can extend our partnership beyond fundraising to also use our focus on Training and Skills in the construction sector to support and train young people. Ultimately we want to make sure our partnership helps ensure that vulnerable young people don’t miss out on the opportunities available to those from different backgrounds and together we create a lasting legacy for communities across Ireland.”

Aisling Andrews, Corporate Partnerships for Barnardos commented: “We’re delighted to be selected as the charity partner for Saint-Gobain Ireland and we look forward to working with their teams to help create brighter futures for thousands of children and families across the country”.
