Introduction to Skimming
Outline description of course:
A one day hands on practical course undertaken within a workshop environment at the purpose built Saint-Gobain Technical Academy facilities in Kingscourt.
Recognised as the superior method for offering smooth and robust surfaces to internal walls in all types of buildings, the application of a skim plaster over plasterboard is one of many skills required by fully qualified plasterers. Instructed by one of the Technical Academy’s fully qualified and experienced plasterers the Introduction to skimming course provides attendees with an understanding of the key techniques and an opportunity to try their hand at a very basic level of plaster skimming over plasterboard.
The content of the course takes the plastering novice through the tools and equipment required, how to mix the plaster to the correct consistency and all key application stages using a hawk and trowel. Each attendee will be working in their own dedicated area and will be given plenty of space and opportunity to practice the skimming process.
